Who We Are

Connecting Corridors is a community-driven organisation based in Dawesville, working to protect, restore & celebrate the natural places that make our region unique. We bring people together across suburbs, habitats & interests to strengthen the ecological corridors that support wildlife, community wellbeing & local identity.

We’re practical, hands-on & grounded in the realities of living on the coast. Our work is shaped by local knowledge, science, collaboration & a belief that small, consistent actions can create long-term change.

Connecting Corridors is for everyone - residents, volunteers, families, schools, local groups & anyone who cares about the future of our patch of WA.

OUR VISION

A connected landscape where people, wildlife & community thrive together, supported by healthy corridors, strong local identity & shared stewardship of the places we call home.

OUR MISSION

To protect & restore natural corridors through community action, practical education & partnerships that strengthen resilience, biodiversity & local pride.

OUR VALUES

Collaboration

We work better together. Our projects are built on partnerships, with volunteers, neighbours, schools, local groups, researchers & agencies. We share knowledge, resources & ideas to create outcomes that last.

Welcoming

Everyone has a place here. Whether someone is a seasoned volunteer or has never planted a tree before, they’re part of the story. We create spaces where people feel comfortable, supported & valued.

Innovation

We’re not afraid to try new approaches. From citizen science to digital tools, creative storytelling & community-led design, we look for practical ways to solve local challenges & build resilience.

Kindness

Kindness guides how we work - with each other, with our environment & with our community. We choose respect, patience & generosity, knowing that positive change grows from positive culture.

Care for Country

We honour the landscapes we work in & the knowledge that has cared for them for thousands of years. Our projects aim to protect, restore & respect the natural systems that sustain us.

Practical action

We focus on what we can do today. Clear steps, achievable goals & steady progress. Real change comes from consistent effort, not grand statements.

HOW WE WORK

Community first

We listen to local voices & shape our projects around what matters to the people who live here. Our work is grounded in place, identity & shared responsibility.

Science-informed, locally adapted

We use the best available ecological knowledge, then adapt it to the area’s unique conditions - our dunes, estuary, bushland, wildlife & climate.

Hands-on projects

We run practical activities that make a visible difference: planting, weeding, monitoring, mapping, education, habitat restoration & corridor strengthening.

Clear communication

We keep things simple, accessible & honest. No jargon, no gatekeeping, just clear information that helps people understand their environment & how to care for it.

Partnerships that matter

We collaborate with local groups, schools, researchers, agencies & businesses to build capacity & share resources. Strong partnerships create stronger outcomes.

Celebrating local identity

We highlight the stories, landscapes & community strengths that makes a location special. Pride in place builds momentum for long-term stewardship.
