The Connecting Corridors project has been working to address community concerns about safe riding spaces in Mandurah after a young girl sought help following the tragic death of her friend in a bike accident and reports of booby?traps targeting riders; Councillor Jess Smith facilitated a meeting with Council delegates, but despite limited attendance & scepticism, representatives learned that Mandurah has no available land for new recreational use, leaving riders restricted to the ORV section of the beach, while alternatives such as collaboration with DCBA’s Pinjar venue were dismissed by Mandurah Council; discussion turned to the possibility of closing streets for special events, which would require an incorporated group to take responsibility and approximately $10,000 in insurance costs, meaning the issue remains unresolved but Connecting Corridors is committed to pursuing partnerships, events, and initiatives to secure safe, legal riding spaces for the community.
