Now Officially Incorporated!

23 Feb 2025

For years, I’ve been running the "Green Corridors" website, but I always knew it had the potential to be something bigger. It was time to expand and bring together a couple of smaller groups in our area under a supportive network, and that’s how Connecting Corridors was born!

With this new direction, groups like Dawesville Town Team and The She Shed can focus on what they do best, while Connecting Corridors provides the framework and support they need for long-term success. It’s all about bringing people, places, and nature together & connecting corridors.

And now, as an incorporated entity, we’ll be able to unlock funding opportunities with greater ease and reduce the obstacles that have previously slowed progress. It’s a win for everyone!

What’s Next?

Now that we’re incorporated, it’s time to turn our plans into action! We’re putting together an interim team to get things rolling, and I’d love for you to be part of it. Here’s where we stand so far:

  • President: Paul Arlott, our very own from Melros/Florida, is stepping into this key role. He's done a lot of the hard slog with me.
  • Secretary: That’s me! My hands-on involvement in setting things up makes this the perfect fit.

But we still need your help! Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Committee Members

These roles are a great opportunity to make a real impact in Dawesville and beyond. You’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to improving our community, driving environmental projects, and having a lot of fun along the way.

Membership & Sponsorship

Becoming incorporated means we need to ensure everyone and everything is covered by insurance. Right now, quotes are coming in around $900 - $1,000 per year. I’m hunting for insurers that might offer coverage per event, but we need to plan for this expense regardless.

To help, we’re launching membership for Connecting Corridors! I’m working on creating three membership levels so there’s an option for everyone. We’ll also be introducing sponsorship opportunities. Hopefully, these efforts will cover the insurance costs, so we can focus on what really matters—working on meaningful, productive projects for our community.

The Benefits of Joining

Becoming a member of Connecting Corridors is more than just signing up—it’s about being part of something bigger. Members will enjoy:

  • Supporting meaningful local initiatives
  • Exclusive updates and insights
  • Networking opportunities with like-minded individuals
  • A chance to shape the future of our projects

Plus, you’ll feel the joy of knowing you’re making a real difference for our community. Together, we can achieve so much more!

Our Current Projects

At the moment, Paul and I are focused on keeping spaces like Melros Urban Park clean and ready for the exciting things we’ve got planned. We’re working on projects like:

  • Spreading mulch
  • Planting new greenery
  • Developing a beautiful bush tucker garden

On top of that, having a fully equipped trailer for community clean-up days would really make things easier—and hey, it’s always a great excuse to finish the day with a cold drink.

How You Can Get Involved
